Dealing with it er en internasjonal studentworkshop i regi av Arkitektur- og designhøgskolen i Oslo. Som en del av Dealing with It vil det også holdes en forelesningsrekke utover høsten på Arkitektur- og designhøgskolen i Oslo:

The lecture series will expand on the theme of the Dealing with it workshop, by inviting practitioners and academics to present a spectrum of approaches and attitudes towards the existing environment.

The talks will take stock of the modes of practice, cultural ambitions, intellectual frameworks, and political commitments that go beyond keeping or letting to propose alternative ways of dealing with it.

Even in a time where everything is changing faster than ever before we believe that well designed spaces retain their validity over centuries. A room in a Palladian villa touches us 400 years after its creation, although life is very different. It shows how spatial quality can exist for a long time without losing its effect on us. This is achieved among other things through the intelligent use of architectural elements to compose a space with beautiful proportions and materials.

In our work we are searching for these qualities. We are interested in designing inside and outside spaces with strong atmospheres. How we do this and what we are looking for in our work we will explain in our lecture about SPACE.

Maria Conen and Raoul Sigl studied architecture at EPF Lausanne and ETH Zurich. In 2011 they founded Conen Sigl Architekten. The office won several prizes in competitions and the Swiss Art Award in Architecture 2015. They worked on different exhibitions designs as for the Manifesta 11. Currently they are planning projects in and around Zurich as a fire station, a cooperative housing and the renovation of the Kunsthaus Glarus. They were teaching with Christ Gantenbein and Adam Caruso at ETH Zurich and as a guest professor at TU Munich, TU Dresden and currently at EPF Lausanne. Read more here.
