Velkommen til årets åpningsfest på DOGA! Det blir DJ og dans i DOGA-hallen:

Dans: Ceilidh / Dansvaka
DJ: 3rdSpace DJs.

Social folk dancing forms can be found within almost every culture in the world, and have existed as a way to connect communities for thousands of years. Tonight’s event is part of a new cultural collective which aims to connect Nordic and Celtic musicians and dancers across Europe, and to champion the original identity of traditional social dancing as a means of establishing a sense of collective joy, community and togetherness.

The musicians and dance callers in tonight’s band hail from Iceland, the Scotish Highlands and Islands, and Austria. Experienced ceilidh players, they will guide you through a number of different dances from the British Isles, Scandinavia and beyond.

No experience is needed to take part, nor do you require a dance partner. All backgrounds and abilities are welcome, and a fun time guaranteed for all.

The musicians are:
Linus Orri Gunnarsson Cederborg is a multi-instrumentalist and singer from Iceland.
Jamie MacDonald is a fiddle player from the Hebridean island of Tiree.
Christian Gamauf, from Austria, started playing the Scottish bagpipes in a local pipe band as a child, and went on to move to Scotland to study traditional music and Gaelic.
Josie Anne Gaitens is a singer from the Scottish Highlands who performs in English, Scots and Gaelic.
