The Oslo Architecture Triennale is working with the question «What if nature comes first?» as the theme for the upcoming Triennale. This thematical scope will be kept, independent of the festival being postponed.

The 9th edition of the Oslo Architecture Triennale, originally planned to be organized the autumn of 2025 with the theme «What if nature comes first?», has been postponed.

In the period following the former Triennale in 2022, the Oslo Architecture Triennale team has explored questions surrounding nature, sustainability and circularity. An obvious insight from this work has been that the Triennale organisation itself is not sustainable enough.

Thus we take action to secure long term stability and resilience, so that the Oslo Architecture Triennale can keep on exploring, developing and disseminating questions around architecture and urban development for the future – locally, nationally and internationally.

Continued collaborations

Apart from creating and facilitating experiences for our audience through events or exhibitions, the Oslo Architecture Triennale is to lift and support important projects and voices and offer opportunities as a platform for the broader field of architecture. An essential role for the Triennale is involving, engaging and mobilising different groups and actors – also between festival periods. We will continue doing this the coming year, even though the festival is postponed.

We are now entering a process trying to make the Triennale more relevant and strengthened for the future. This work will provide the foundation for what the organisation will look like going forward, and for when the next Triennale is to be organised. We are keeping «What if nature comes first?» as the theme, and are looking forward to further develop existing and new collaborations.

We will be back with more!
