Lecture followed by a debate with the architects behind Oslo's New Government Quarter.

The New Government Quarter project is one of the largest Norwegian construction projects ever. The area is characterized by incoherent urban planning where little consideration has been given to the city's inhabitants and movement patterns. The Government Quarter will now be spatially "stiched" together with the rest of the city making it easier to walk and bicycle, while historical buildings will be given a new framing.

How did the development of the original Government Quarter affect city life and the old neighbourhood of Hammersborg? What happened to Oslo when the inner ring road of Oslo, Ring 1, was established? How will the New Government Quarter contribute to urban repair? Which main measures have been chosen for the development of the city and the urban areas?
